Cortes Community HousingIt takes a community to raise a village.
Together, we are fulfilling the dream of affordable stable year-round rental housing for community members of all ages. The Cortes Island Seniors Society has purchased a 51 acre parcel close to downtown Mansons, and CIBATA, the local business and tourism association, now own the adjoining 2.6 acre commercial lot capable of supporting local business enterprises.
Manda Aufochs Gillespie of FolkU fame recently interviewed Sandra Wood of Cortes Community Housing. Sandra is the Project Coordinator for the Housing Committee, which is spear-heading the upcoming expansion to the existing seniors village and heading up the Rainbow Ridge Project which is planning for 20 units of year-round rental housing for singles, couples, families and seniors. This interview has been posted on Cortes Radio and Cortes Currents. Enjoy!
