Donate to Create Affordable Housing on Cortes

To date, Cortes Community Housing in partnership with Cortes Island Seniors Society have raised over $1.6 million toward building affordable, stable, year-round housing for Cortes Islanders. We’re very close to our goal of $1.7 million: the amount we’ll need to move forward with the development at Rainbow Ridge, in the heart of Mansons Landing.

Along with generous grants from BC Housing and other supporters, this project runs on community money: large and small donations from people who love this island and want it to be a strong, diverse, and interconnected place. Monthly sustaining donations are especially impactful for us, no matter how small. Whether it’s $3 a month or $300 a month, your ongoing support will bring us closer to getting community members into affordable housing.

It’s easy to make a secure recurring or one-time donation of any size online, using the form below. If you’d prefer to donate via cheque, you’ll find more information at the bottom of the page. All donations are eligible for a Canadian tax deductible receipt from the Cortes Community Housing Society (CHS). American residents please click here to learn how to receive a US tax deductible receipt for your donation of $250 or more via the Tides Foundation.

CHS is grateful for all cash donations, large and small, but if you have investments in securities (stocks and bonds) you may find it financially advantageous to donate them directly through Canada Helps rather than selling them first and donating the resulting cash. This Table shows you why:
