As we inch our way out of the depths of winter, our attentions turn to new beginnings, fresh possibilities and ways to take better care of ourselves.
Throughout February, Lisa Day of Rites of Spirit is generously donating a percentage of her massage earnings to the housing fund. What a sweet way to love yourself and offer some love to the housing project at the same time.
For those of you that have yet to experience Lisa’s healing gifts, her massages offer a adept combination of gentle intuition and strength. We’re so lucky to call her a neighbour, and thrilled that she’s made this offer.
What inspired Lisa to donate:
My initial thought in offering a percentage of my earnings to the housing project was inspired by an article I fell upon on Tidelines from Norm Gibbons. It was his true generosity of donating a portion of his proceeds that sparked the light in me. The spark lit in me, I gathered, was the ripple effect playing its part. The the building of a true charity with other small businesses or entrepreneurs in our village of Cortes. I am inspired to see the community be held with greater support and comfortable living in the evolving times with all the changes that are presenting. If we do not come together, we will be more likely to fall apart.
More about Lisa Day and Rites of Spirit:
Cortes Island, over the years, since first stepping foot onto its soil, in 2008, has become a homeland in my heart. Learning a silence like no other, this wild place has offered a serene reconnect which I am in honour of, often. This place invokes a true art on so many levels, aligning insight and imagination, in the finest of forms. Since the opening of Rites of Spirit in 2018, the roots of community devotion evolved, a deeper realization of supporting locally awakened. A more genuine sense of responsibility and commitment lit me up and I began to see what was missing inside, a sense of belonging, and in village-making, it indeed takes a community. Couldn’t think of a more honest way in entering into more belonging than to donate for the sake of a home building support project, year-round living for year-round lovers of Cortes Island. I love this place and see the light lit in many eyes, within a common appreciation. I am devoted to servicing this community through the art of healing and will continue evolving my range of skills to assist greater, deeper and most profound, in whatever way is needed and asked for. Bless this space we call Home.
Happy love month!
It takes a community to raise a village.
